Geologist
Bringing over 35 years of experience in the Oil and Gas Industry Ark-La-Tex area, Chip Johnson is well qualified to assist in geological, economic evaluations and regulatory issues you may face. Mr. Johnson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from Stephen F. Austin State University.
Mr. Johnson began his career as a geologist-core analyst with Omni Petroleum Services in Houston, focusing on rock and reservoir property interpretation in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and offshore Gulf of Mexico.
Mr. Johnson went to work for James E. Smith and Associates an oil and gas consulting company in Tyler in 1990 as a staff geologist. He assisted in the management of geological interpretation of client properties as well as economic and reserve evaluations. He gained valuable knowledge of Texas Rail Road Commission rules, regulations and applications. He also developed and continues to maintain relationships with the Rail Road Commission in Austin and at the district level.
In 1992, Mr. Johnson went to work for Herd Producing Company in Tyler. He was responsible for geologic interpretation of the company’s owned and operated properties, joint operated properties and potential prospect properties. He determined drill site locations, performed well site evaluation, well log interpretation, and recommended completion and re-completion zones. Here he was responsible for reservoir and economic evaluation of producing and non- producing properties as well as regulatory requirements and applications with the Texas Rail Road Commission and Louisiana Office of Conservation. He also managed and assisted the acquisition, development and divestiture in over 100k acres of oil and gas leases.
